Wild Things and Yeah Yeah Yeahs

This is me apologizing in advance for the randomness of all this Wild Things related stuff…

I’ve been a fan of Spike Jonze since the first time I saw the video for “Undone” 15 years ago.

It just got better too, as he went on to create some of my favorite music videos (like “Sabotage”, “Buddy Holly” and a bunch more) and movies (Being John Malkovich and Adaptation)…. and when he created (and starred in) a video for the Fatboy Slim song “Praise You”, I realized we have identical dance styles…

and that pretty much sealed the deal that he’s my favorite…

Needless to say, I’m stoked about Where the Wild Things Are… might even find a way to cough up $50 to take the whole family to see it.

The Soundtrack

Today I found out that the soundtrack for the movie has been created by Karen O from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

Their latest album is one of my favorites so far this year and Karen’s quirky style (combined with a pretty stellar list of collaborators and a choir of kids) is going to be perfect. (The first single “All is Love” is in the playlist).

Also, thanks to grain edit, I found the official blog for the movie, which is more focused on inspiration sources that contributed (some subconsciously) to the production… really cool and more fun than a typical “behind the scenes” kind of thing.

The Trailer

Honestly, I’ve seen this many times and still cry when I watch it. Probably has something to do with Arcade Fire in the background
