Another New Print: Pyramid Point

Pyramid Point

Here’s another piece inspired by life in northwest Michigan. This one started a little rocky in early drafts but I’m really happy with how it turned out. I think it’s a lovely print perfect for anyone who loves the Great Lakes or sunsets or pipes or peace or peace pipes. Check it out in my shop.

11″ x 17″ giclee limited edition set of 13.

New Print: Lots of Crows

Lots of Crows illustration by Troy DeShano

My favorite suggestion to yesterday’s query “what should I draw today?” was Kelly’s “lots of crows.”

I got quite a few ideas from folks on Facebook and Twitter… including several who suggested a “May 21 Rapture” theme.. and some concepts that were so specific I couldn’t help but think “why don’t you just make that yourself?” Check out a few from the list:

  • Avett Brothers “Murder in the City”
  • A Wiener Dog
  • Mother Theresa
  • Tribute to the late Macho Man Randy Savage
  • A little girl smelling a flower and from the flower comes out a rainbow that ends in the mountains (almost did this b/c it was just so weird)
  • “Honest Abe” Lincoln with a halo
  • What you see when you hear Shostakovich, Symphony No. 5
  • Memories from Saved by the Bell (I’m sure I’ll do this eventually)
  • Cheeseburgers
  • a bird that learned it can fly underwater and the discovery it made
  • a spiral coming undone
  • a man turning into a city
  • a fish
  • leather pants

I loved the design so much that I’ve decided to make it available in the shop. Only 11 will be printed—the first of which will go to Kelly for making such a great suggestion.

Congrats Kelly!

You can get this in the shop now for a few bucks (and it’s a 5×7 so finding a cheap frame will be easy for you.)

New in the Shop: Smoking the Gun

Smoking the Gun

Just added one of my favorite prints to my shop. Smoking the Gun is part of an illustration series I started in 2010 about my travels around Michigan’s upper peninsula.

This print is an 18″ x 25.5″ giclee printed on Elegance fine art paper. The run is very small – a limited edition of 13 signed prints – so get one while you can.

Visit the shop to check out some detail images.

Announcing: Troy DeShano Art Shop

Troy DeShano Art Shop

Check out my new online shop!

Over the past couple years I’ve amassed quite a collection of illustrations and designs, and I’m so excited to announce that they are now available for purchase in my online shop.

All of the work in the shop is limited release giclée prints, signed and numbered and they are all very small runs. Some prints will be limited to a set as small as 10 (like the John Hughes posters). So if you see something you like, you should probably snag it before they are all gone.

I’ve also got some small items—buttons and magnets, and in the future I’ll have t-shirts, maybe some original mixed media pieces and more.

I hoped to make framing an option to select within the store, but it got pretty complicated trying to figure out the shipping and all that. I do want to make sure everyone knows that framing is available, just contact me to ask about it before you make your purchase.

These prints make amazing gifts and look fantastic on the wall. I’ve got a handful framed and hanging in my house right now and it really classes the joint right up.

Have fun shopping!

Traverse City Maker’s Market: Holla-Day Bazaar

I’m excited to have a few of my pieces on display at the Traverse City Maker’s Market end-of-the-year “Holla-Day Bazaar.

This is a really cool event co-founded by my good friend Kelly Nogoski. It’ll be at the InsideOut Gallery in Traverse City this Saturday (December 11) from 10-5.

I’ve collected a handful of my favorite pieces from the past couple years to offer as limited edition prints. Each one is really personal but totally accessible. I know you’ll find at least one that you’ll love (and probably try to talk yourself out of purchasing, but give up the fight now it’s pointless)

In addition to those framed prints, I’ll also have my John Hughes tribute posters available. These are a short run of 100 giclée prints, each one signed and numbered.

My wife will be there too, with some of her handmade purses and things sharing a table with our favorite Minneapolite—Bekah from Recycling is Rad. They both have tons of great items perfect for last-minute Christmas gifts.

If you happen to live around Traverse City, I highly recommend this event. Every artist there will have something totally unique and cool—you’ll be sure to find something for that special someone on your holiday shopping list (especially if that special someone is yourself).

Plus the gallery is right next door to Right Brain Brewery, where you can grab a pint (or two) of Michigan’s finest micro-brewskis.
